Each school in the Columbus Independent will be releasing from the school day early on Oct. 13 in preparation for the Columbus varsity football game away from home against Hitchcock. Students will get home around three hours earlier than normal to accommodate for those travelling for the game.

St. Anthony gets donations, preps for sports

The Catholic Daughters, Court Mary Queen of the Snows made a generous donation to St. Anthony from their dessert sales at the recent KC drive thru meal. The funds will be used for a new fence on the large playground. The parish KCs and CDA are regular supporters of St. Anthony, and the school has expressed gratitude for their support.

Local schools in the area celebrated Constitution Week from Sept.17 to Sept. 23, which is a commemoration of the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine founding fathers on Sept. 17, 1787.

St. Anthony benefitted from some charitable donations as The Knights of Columbus Council #2971 held a fried pork steak drive through meal to benefit St. Anthony School and the Catholic Daughters. Court Mary Queen of the Snows provided desserts for the event. All the proceeds will go toward the construction of a new fence surrounding the large playground on the school grounds.
