Due to last week’s weather, Saint Anthony students and staff couldn’t witness the solar eclipse outside, but teachers were able to show Nasa’s stream live in the classrooms so everyone could experience the event.
St. Anthony 7th graders will travel to Austin on Monday, April 22 for a field trip to the Capital, the Texas State Cemetery and McKinney Falls State Park. On April 24, 4th grade will head to Washington on the Brazos to get up close and personal with Texas History.
Junior High students are still enjoying the elective period added this year. Some new subjects being taught during the current 9 weeks are Gardening, Maintenance, Yearbook, Food Decorating and Kindness 101.
On Thursday afternoons the campus buzzes with excitement as students get a break from their regular academics, trying their hand at growing tomato plants, changing a tire, creating a swan from an apple, or just doing a good deed for someone.
Career Day is another way that St. Anthony exposes curious students to different fields of study that may interest them. On April 23, students will see presentations and then ask questions of area professionals about their particular line of work.
The St. Anthony Tennis team had matches in Weimar on April 11.
The students winning their matches were Deacon Barten, Jacob Muzny, Hayden Lowe, John Foster and Josh Newman in Boys Singles. Bella Lowe, Charley McBride and Josie Hauerland in Girls Singles. Jace Tribe and Cormac Barten, Kaden Glueck and Matthias Walla in Boys Doubles. Keaton Watkins and Abigail Wolters in Girls Doubles. The tennis team will again play in Weimar on April 23, beginning at 4:45p.m.
Both the A and B Soccer teams won their first matches against St. Rose on April 10. They will travel to Victoria for the OLV tournament on April 20.
Childrens’ Mass is each Friday at 8:15 in church. All are welcome.
