“Ready, Set, Library!”
Twenty-two members from the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild attempted something new with the Guild’s Quilt of Valor Project. Scraps of patriotic material were cut into various lengths and widths, and each Member was asked to make 8 1/2” or 9 1/2” blocks using a Log Cabin design.
Registration remains open until April 1 for those wishing to join more than 1,000 birders who will flock to the coast, forests, prairies and mountains of Texas to compete in the nation’s biggest, longest and wildest bird watching tournament.

Arts for Rural Texas is committed to providing art experiences and art education to the children of rural Texas throughout the year. ARTS’ Summer Camps provide a creative space for young artists to learn and play. Each camp offers a fun and interactive curriculum where students can learn many different art forms, such as painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, quilting, felting, movie making, performing arts, music, and much more.
Weimar Public Library is a little quieter this week but still has great activities to be involved in.
In honor of the upcoming ‘Turtle Wing Day’, The Turtle Wing Foundation invites residents to wear their Turtle Wing Gear (or green) to school and work to show their support and inclusion of friends and family who have learning challenges.
In recognition of Black History Month, the League of Women Voters of South-Central Texas will host a special Zoom presentation, Cotton and Sugar in Texas: 1800-2024, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28.
LA GRANGE – The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild hosted their premier competition of the year with the “Best Little Quilt Show in Texas” with several quilters and artists competing for the best quilt in each category.

Arts for Rural Texas proudly presents A Riot of Color: Embracing Expressive Chaos, featuring the bold and brilliantly charged works of Jeremy Serna. Serna, recognized for his mastery in transforming canvas into worlds of color, form, and life, brings a unique perspective to the world of impressionist art.
The kids are out for President’s Day on Monday, Feb. 19 and families will need a place to go to get out of the house for a while.
Random Acts of Kindness week begins the week of Feb. 11, pushing to add more kindness in the world.
LA GRANGE – The Rural Nonprofit Networking Group is excited to invite all nonprofit staff and volunteers to join their next gathering which will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
