Quilt Guild holds ‘Best Little Quilt Show in Texas’

LA GRANGE – The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild hosted their premier competition of the year with the “Best Little Quilt Show in Texas” with several quilters and artists competing for the best quilt in each category.

LA GRANGE — The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild hosted their premier competition of the year with the “Best Little Quilt Show in Texas” with several quilters and artists competing for the best quilt in each category.

Over 600 attendees saw a variety of quilts on display. Below is the list of winners represented for the guild.

The top overall submission went to Anita Todd. Her piece “Hankie Panky” won Best in Show during the competition.

Sandy Courrier won the Judge’s Award in the SS category for her piece “ Terry’s Choice” and Brenda Winfield won the LK category for the same Award with her pice “Light of the World John 8:12.

The Pride of La Grange winners for the artisan and professional categories were Barbara Schellberg and Todd respectively. Todd won for her piece “Lady Byrd Bouquets” while Schellberg won with “Exploding Wildflowers.”

The Past Show Chair Theme Artisan division was won by Sharon Haechten with her piece “It’s Springtime in Texas”, while the professional division was secured by Kathi Babcock with “Springtime Somewhere.”

For the Outstanding Contemporary category, Courrier won in the Artisan division with “Seniors ‘24” while Carolyn Griffith one in the Professional division with “Urban Dallas.”

In the Outstanding Traditional category went to both Schellberg and Brenda Perry for “Glory Bound” and “Afternoon Delight (Variation)” respectively.

Courrier won the Guild Choice for “Last Minute Decision” and the People’s Choice went to Todd for “Anita’s Scrap Garden.”
