COLUMBUS – The City Council made several resolutions that involve funding for different initiatives in the city. Not only did the council approve resolutions to contribute funding for the “Save Our Opera House” campaign, but they also approved a few grants that assist funds in that campaign as well as the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department.

The Columbus Community and Industrial Development Corporation approved one half of the requested amount of $105,320 dollars, or $52,660 for the addition of three bathrooms on the second floor, Grand Hall level, of the Stafford Opera House on Oct. 16.

COLUMBUS – The Commissioners Court made several resolutions at their most recent meeting including creating an understanding of assistance during evacuation emergencies with the city of Angleton as well courthouse and county projects and improvements. The early voting period for the Amendments Elections on Nov. 7 began on Oct. 23 and will run until Nov. 3. Here are some of the early numbers of voter turnout in the county as voters begin the election cycle.

AUSTIN – The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) hosted a public work session on Oct. 20 to review winter weather preparedness, grid reliability and resiliency, and industry compliance with weatherization standards.

Since 1976, the Habitat for Humanity organization has made it their mission to provide homes to those who do not have the resources to purchase one themselves. Their mission is extending to those who already own homes as earlier this year, Habitat for Humanity introduced their Critical Repairs Program to return damaged homes back to working condition.
