The Columbus Education Foundation is starting a new tradition with the Columbus Duck Derby.
The “Duck Drop” is Saturday, May 18, at 11 a.m., launching from the East River Bridge. The ducks will float down the Colorado River to the finish line at Beason’s Park. The first three ducks that cross the finish line will win gift cards valued at $1,000 for 1st place, $500 for 2nd place and $250 for 3r place. The cost to race is $5 for Just a Duck, a Quack Pack of 6 for $25 or a Flock-a-Ducks of 13 for $50. Only 3,000 ducks will be sold, and a lot have already been sold, so those interested should purchase their ducks while supplies last.
CEF is proud to recognize our major sponsors: Drymalla, AL&M, Baumgart Agency and the Mark A Chapman Foundation.
It’s not too late to be added to the sponsor list of supporters. Those who would like to be a bigger part of the Columbus Duck Derby have other levels of sponsorship available. Sponsors will receive recognition on event signage, the CEF website and social media feeds and complimentary ducks in the race. Additional information can be found at www.ColumbusEducationFoundation. org.
Proceeds for this event will support scholarships and classroom grants for students and teachers in Columbus ISD on behalf of CEF. Columbus Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that wishes to enhance the educational opportunities at CISD. Community support for fund raisers such as the Columbus Duck Derby will go a long way in realizing this goal.
Ducks can be purchased online at www.ColumbusEducationFoundation. org or in person during regular business hours at: Baumgart Insurance, Industry State Bank, Leyco Real Estate, AL&M Building Supply, Columbus Physical Therapy, Five Oak Construction.
