In a heartwarming display of generosity and compassion, the Faith Academy Families came together to collect over 117 Operation Christmas Child boxes, bringing joy and hope to children in need around the world. The National Junior Honor Society hosted the collection at Faith Academy.

LA GRANGE – The Rural Nonprofit Networking Group is excited to invite all nonprofit staff and volunteers to join their next gathering which will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023. RNNG creates opportunities for the organizations that do so much good in our rural communities to share their missions and visions, discuss community needs and partnership opportunities, bring in experts to facilitate growth and professionalism, and simply connect to maximize the efficiency and impact that participants can bring to Fayette, Colorado, Lavaca and surrounding counties.

GRAPEVINE – Alyssa Molina, MD, MPH, was awarded the Texas Academy of Family Physicians Public Health Award during TAFP’s Annual Session and Primary Care Summit in Grapevine on Nov. 11. The award recognizes individuals who are making extraordinary contributions to the public health of Texas.

Weimar FFA members competed at the Texas FFA State Leadership Development Events (LDEs) on the campus of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville on Dec. 1 to Dec. 2.

Arts for Rural Texas recognizes the artistic vision and ingenuity of creative people from around the region. Every year, ARTS opens its doors to celebrate the talents of the surrounding communities. The nonprofit’s annual Holiday Show provides an opportunity for creatives to showcase their work at ARTS’ Ross Gallery and promises to be filled with originality and expression.

LA GRANGE – It was a wonderfully productive day for the CVQG, with 22 members in attendance at the Workshop Wednesday. Over 17 quilts were sandwiched (front, batting and backing), more quilts were cut, pieced and ironed. Quilts were readily available for anyone to pick up and finish for our ongoing Charity Quilts Project. Ten quilts had already been delivered to the Schulenburg area nursing facilities last week.

COLUMBUS – The Nov. 30 meeting of Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club featured speakers from the Live Oak Art Center, Executive Director Carly Howlett and President of the Board of Directors Renee Long.

COLUMBUS – The Christmas edition of Friday Night Live hosted by Noah’s Ark Coffee House will feature a longtime singer as its main performer on Dec. 8. Dorceal Duckens has been singing since being discovered by Prairie View A&M music professor Robert Henry who founded the Houston Ebony Opera Guild in 1983.

There are several locations that the residents of Colorado County will be able to meet and take pictures with Santa Claus.

Tri-County Realty LLC – Double G Realty Group held its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Nov. 30.

The Columbus Lady Cardinals had a weekend filled with the excitement of the game of basketball taking on Belton, Alvarado, Levelland and Gunter.

The Columbus Cardinals were eliminated from the playoffs in the third round and did not get to where they wanted to be but are still walking away with All-district honors.

The Preseason rankings for soccer have been released for class 4A and the Lady Cardinals found their way into the top 20. The Lady Cards are currently ranked 15th in class 4A in the preseason rankings and are looking to build off a successful season last year. Coming off a 17-7-4 record last season, the Lady Cards have plenty of returning and upand- coming players ready to get things going. The Lady cards first soccer game is scheduled on Friday, Dec. 15, on the road against the La Grange Leopards.

The Columbus Cardinals traveled to Lexingotn to compete in the tournament there where they walked away with 3rd place.

The Rice Raiders traveled to the Round Top-Carmine and went undefeated for the entire tournament.

Wade Moore is an offensive lineman who just wrapped up his freshman season at Southwest Baptist University where his team finished 4-7.

The Rice Lady Raiders dropped back-to-back games on Friday, Dec. 1, to Bellville and Lehman.

The Weimar Wildcats competed in the Round Top-Carmine Tournament and won three of their four games.

Football fever has concluded its final week and with all the fun it has brought us we still have one final winner to announce.

The Weimar Ladycats lost all four of their games they played at the Little River Academy Tournament.
