Churches hold Ash Wednesday festivities

Several county churches are holding Ash Wednesday events today, Feb. 14, as well as services throughout Lent season. The following is not an exhaustive list of events happening in Colorado County. Contact churches unlisted here for their Ash Wednesday service information as well as Lent season initiatives.
Churches hold Ash Wednesday festivities

Several county churches are holding Ash Wednesday events today, Feb. 14, as well as services throughout Lent season. The following is not an exhaustive list of events happening in Colorado County. Contact churches unlisted here for their Ash Wednesday service information as well as Lent season initiatives.

St. John’s Episcopal Church will be holding their Ash Wednesday service at noon at their church location at 915 Travis St. They will also offer a drive-thru ash blessing from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Brookshire Brothers parking lot at 1400 Fannin St.

St. Paul Lutheran Church begins their drive-thru ash service at 7 a.m. and concludes at 8 a.m. at the Lighthouse at 201 Veterans Drive. St. Paul will have their Ash Wednesday Service at 4 p.m. and another at 6:30 p.m. in the main sanctuary. They will also provide a Lent Service each Wednesday throughout Lent with a soup and sandwich supper provided for attendees.

Faith Lutheran Church in Weimar at 615 S Eagle St. will hold a supper for families at 6 p.m. before their worship service at 7 p.m.
