Weimar baseball bounces back with big Bloomington win
Weimar baseball bounces back with big Bloomington win
The Wildcats have tightened up their efforts this season after entering the district portion of their schedule. In six district games, they have lost only two as they have stayed near the top of the district standings. The start of last week slowed down Weimar’s efforts to chase a district championship after they suffered a tough loss to the Shiner Comanches. However, the Wildcats were able to respond with a huge win over Bloomington, a team near the bottom of the district standings. 04/05/2023 12:00 AM

Being at Texas ChalleNGe Academy was goal that I set for myself. I voluntarily joined the Academy and am happy that I made the decision to come here. I have learned from being here that some cadets were somewhat forced to attend, but for me that wasn’t the case. 04/05/2023 12:00 AM

Community attends presentation by forensic reconstruct artist and sculptor
Community members from near and far came to the library on March 30 to attend a forensic anthropology presentation by Amanda Danning at Nesbitt Memorial Library. Danning discussed the bestselling book, “No Bone Overturned” by Jeff Benedict. The book is based on the true story of Dr. Doug Owsley, a forensic anthropologist at the Smithsonian, and one of his greatest accomplishments when he sued the U.S. Department of Justice to stop them from reburying a 9,000-year-old skeleton called the “Kennewick Man.” Danning talked about evaluating “Kennewick Man” and how she, with some assistance, developed a program that used grids to help with facial reconstruction. 04/05/2023 12:00 AM

EASTER IS COMING
EASTER IS COMING
Congregations of the Tri-County Cooperative Ministries, ELCA will observe Holy Week and the Easter Celebration will soon be here. Palm Sunday will have us remembering that day when Jesus enters Jerusalem with the waving of palm branches and hearing shouts by the crowds “Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.” We will gather for Maundy Thursday services, celebrating the Sacrament and remembering that night when Jesus gathered with His disciples and instituting the Lord’s Supper. And then Good Friday, when people of faith recall the great suffering Jesus endured and the death that came on the cross. And our Jesus goes to that cross for our salvation. He gives His all out of His love for all of us. 04/05/2023 12:00 AM

Ladycat softball climbs up to second in district standings
The Weimar varsity softball team is in the midst of their strongest stretch of performances this season as they rode a 10-game win streak to the second-place spot in the district standings. After beating Shiner, the team just behind the Ladycats in the standings, as well as another strong win to end the week, Weimar took the runner up position with a great opportunity to shoot up to first place before the end of district season. The Ladycats may like their chances as part of their win streak included a 9-run shutout victory against the first-place Ganado Lady Indians. They will get a chance to potentially claim the top spot after their game against Ganado on Thursday, April 6. 04/05/2023 12:00 AM
