EAGLE LAKE — Those interested in learning about the history and culture of Eagle Lake can visit the Prairie Edge Museum, 408 E. Main St.

At their meeting on March 21, Christine Owen spoke before the First United Methodist Church Women of Faith about the importance of the museum.

The volunteer-staffed premier small-town museum is dedicated to recording and preserving local area culture and history, according to a release. Established in 1983, its collections and exhibits include artifacts from natural history, Native American culture, agriculture, politics, education, military, ranching, local industry, railroad, family, and pioneer life.

Owen invited the community to visit the museum for a nostalgic walkthrough of Eagle Lake history and to find an interesting treasure at the museum’s thrift store. She said volunteer helpers are always welcome.

The museum is next to the historic Eagle Lake Depot. Prairie Edge is supported by the Museum Thrift Store where patrons can browse the large collection of donated clothing, shoes, decorative items and household goods, which are for sale every other Saturday, 9-11 a.m. The proceeds from purchases help to support the operation of the museum.
