Those considering voting in this upcoming election are being reminded by the Colorado County Elections Office to register by April 6.

To be eligible to register to vote, one must be a United States citizen, a resident of the county where one submits the application, and at least 17 years and 10 months old and are 18 years of age on Election Day.

In order to vote, individuals must not be a convicted felon (those who have completed their sentence, probation, and parole may be eligible to vote) have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

The Elections Office said voter registration does not expire, however, if individuals have recently moved, they need to make sure their most current information is on file; this could directly impact eligibility to vote in local elections.

Interested voters are encouraged to check their registration and if there is any doubt, call the Colorado County Elections office at 979732-6860 or visit teamrvmvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do.
