COLUMBUS — The Colorado County Citizens Candidates Forum took place last Wednesday, March 22 at Nesbitt Memorial Library, 529 Washington St.

Candidates at the non-partisan open forum meeting were given three minutes to make presentations followed by a question- and-answer session. Roman Footnick, candidate for Columbus Independent School District trustee, was the only candidate in attendance and was allotted time to speak and answer questions for the duration of the forum.

Footnick answered questions related to his thoughts on the school district’s consideration of a JROTC program, whether he supports a change of name for the new CISD law enforcement agency from CISD Police to CISD Department of School Safety and Security, and more. Footnick said his goal is to operate in transparency if he was elected to the board.
