The Columbus Lady Cardinals were crowned Area Champions on Thursday, Nov. 2, after defeating Hondo in Nixon, TX.

The Columbus Lady Cardinals had two runners travel to Round Rock, TX on Friday, Nov. 3, looking to add to the ever-growing trophy case at Columbus High School.

The Columbus Cardinals won their last regular season of the year 41-0 to finish the year at a perfect 10-0 before beginning their playoff journey.

The Rice Raiders lost their final game of the season 37-7 on the road to East Bernard on Friday, Nov. 3.

The Rice Raiders football team is a team that does not get talked enough but today that changes because they are one of my favorite teams moving forward.

LADYCATS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP RING CEREMONY

Week ten of The Citizen’s Football Fever contest resulted in one person picking eight of the eight games right. For second place we had a four-way tie which led to the tie-breaker game between Columbus vs. Hempstead. Ryan Beane, of Columbus, is the first-place winner. Robert Chaloupka, of Columbus, is the second-place winner. Robert had the closest score for the tie breaker game. Remember while there is a team from Colorado County in the playoffs then Football Fever will continue. This week all ballots need to be dropped off at the Citizen’s office (2024 Hwy 71 in Columbus) or emailed to melissa. theriot@ coloradocountycitizen. com by 5 p.m. on Thursday to be eligible to win.

The Weimar Wildcats are enjoying a much-deserved bye week this week after securing a spot in the playoffs last week so now it is time to look at who were some top performers for the Wildcats offense this season.

The Weimar Ladycats traveled to Industrial High School on Tuesday, Oct. 31, and were treated in a big way despite not trick-or-treating.

The Weimar Ladycats can now refer to themselves as Area Champs after defeating Burton in three straight sets on Friday, Nov. 3, in Schulenburg.

The beginning of November found SAS celebrating All Saints Day and All Souls Day. SAS 4th graders presented their Living Museum of Saints projects on Nov. 1 in honor of All Saints Day. Students chose a saint to research, and “came to life” to present their project in character. Parents and other SAS students enjoyed learning about the lives of over 20 saints.

Second grade St. Michael students researched and portrayed saints for All Saints Day Mass. LA GRANGE – On Nov. 3, 206 nonprofit and philanthropic organization representatives gathered at the Randolph Recreation Center for the second annual South Central Texas Rural Philanthropy Day hosted by the Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) and the Stanzel Family Foundation (SFF).

RICE TAKES TOP FIVE IN FFA CONTEST

WASHINGTON - The U. S Department of Agriculture (USDA) will provide more than $3 billion to commodity and specialty crop producers impacted by natural disaster events in 2022. Eligible impacted producers can apply for financial assistance through the Emergency Relief Program (ERP) 2022. The program will help offset the financial impacts of crop yield and value losses from qualifying disasters occurring in 2022.
