St. Anthony celebrates All Saints Day, readies for basketball

The beginning of November found SAS celebrating All Saints Day and All Souls Day. SAS 4th graders presented their Living Museum of Saints projects on Nov. 1 in honor of All Saints Day. Students chose a saint to research, and “came to life” to present their project in character. Parents and other SAS students enjoyed learning about the lives of over 20 saints.

The SAS 8th graders participated in St. Anthony Church’s cemetery service for All Souls Day on Nov. 2. All Souls Day is a special time for Catholics to commemorate the souls of the faithful departed through prayer, intercessions and cemetery visits.

On Nov. 9, St. Anthony Basketball teams will kick off their season at home against Our Lady of Victory starting at 5:30 p.m. This year, the Lady Saints will have only a B team, while the boys will have A, B and C teams.

This Saturday, Nov. 11, St. Anthony is holding an SAS Dad’s Cornhole Tournament at St. Roch’s outdoor pavilion in Mentz starting at 5 p.m. All SAS dads are welcome to sign up for free by calling any PTC officer.

The weekly Children’s mass will be held Friday, Nov. 10 at 8:15 a.m. Immediately following mass, SAS 6th graders will lead the Veteran’s Day Program in church.

After the program, 7th and 8th graders will host a reception in the cafeteria for those Veterans in attendance.
