The Weimar Wildcats are enjoying a much-deserved bye week this week after securing a spot in the playoffs last week so now it is time to look at who were some top performers for the Wildcats offense this season.

The Wildcats’ rushing attack was on that was fear throughout their district schedule and it is for a good reason.

The Wildcats’ offense racked up almost 4,000 rushing yards this season with 48 of their 53 total touchdowns coming on the ground. The Wildcats as a team rushed for 3,959 yards but interestingly enough, they had only one rusher join the 1,000-yard club.

Zach Norrell is a name Wildcat fans have heard all season long because he is responsible for a lot of chunk plays within the Wildcats’ offense. Norrell racked up a total of 1,027 yards on the ground this season and found the endzone 13 times.

Norrell was also the leading receiver for the Wildcats having a total of 160 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Norrell was responsible for 25% of the Wildcats touchdowns this season which put a lot of teams on notice as he is only a junior. Huxton Kloesel helped Norrell shoulder the load this season with his dual threat ability.

Kloesel carried the ball for a total of 840 yards on the ground this season scoring 10 rushing touchdowns. As a passer Kloesel threw for a total of 415 yards and five touchdowns and like Norrell he is only a junior.

The Wildcats are happy with the production they got from younger players this season and with more playmakers on the roster outside of Norrell and Kloesel the Wildcats are excited for the future.

Joining Kloesel in the 10-touchdown club was Dreylon McMillian who had 633 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023. Wyatt Lacina was fourth on the team in rushing with 611 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

McMillian and Lacina are the seniors in the backfield and were a crucial part to this team’s success this season. They helped pave the way for players like Norrell and Kloesel and passed on some very valuable experience and lessons to their younger teammates.

The Wildcats’ and their potent rushing attack now enter the playoffs looking to make a statement in the first round by picking up a win against Junction on Friday, Nov. 10, to start their playoff journey.
