COLUMBUS – The Columbus Junior High Student Council has been recognized by the Texas Association of Student Councils for outstanding achievement in leadership, service, and activities that serve to improve the school and community.

COLUMBUS – The Colorado County Extension Office is hosting its “Sew” What 4-H Camp June 1416 at the Colorado County Sewing Lab, 316 Spring St. The camp is open to those age eight and older. Participants must register by June 7 to attend. The camp is from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Those interested in attending are asked to bring their lunch.

COLUMBUS – The Colorado County Extension Office, 316 Spring St., is offering a series of leather making classes this summer starting June 19-20 and June 26-27.

The Weimar Public Library, 1 Jackson Square, launched their summer reading program last week with arts and crafts, movie days with free popcorn, story time on Thursdays at 10 a.m., and a discovery and adventure program schedule.

EAGLE LAKE – Registration for the Wintermann Library Summer Reading Program has opened! The program will take place on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. The library said students must have a library card free of fines to participate.

ALLEYTON– The public is invited to attend a grand opening and ribbon cutting for Camp Oak Haven, formerly Gulf Coast Christian Youth Camp, at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3 hosted by Orr Family Ministries and the Columbus Chamber of Commerce.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, 2022, at approximately 1:26 a.m., Columbus Police said they responded to the 2100 block of Walnut Street in regards to an Eagle Lake Police unit with its emergency lights on, stuck and bottomed out in a citizen’s yard.

A Historic Magnolia Days Festival

In honor of National Police Week, Marketing and Sales Consultant Missy Theriot from the Colorado County Citizen visited the Columbus Police Department, the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado County EMS on Wednesday, May 17, to thank them for their service.
