La Grange – The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild had several presentations at their Oct. 26 meeting where they learned different ways to prepare their quilts for competitions.
The CVQG Members were given specific instructions and care when making their quilts for show through the eyes of a judge.
Brenda Jeschke explained to the guild members what a judge is looking for at the quilt show from the construction to the backing. She also explained how to properly bind a quilt.
Jeschke is an award-winning quilter, quilt teacher and quilt show judge. The guild members learned the dos and don’ts if they want their quilt “Show” ready.
In addition to the quilt training, Deborah Bradley from the Texas Quilt Museum asked the Guild if they could make a couple of Storytime Books with an accompanying quilt for the Museum’s Storytime Saturday’s.
Sandy Courrier quilted a beautiful quilt piece to accompany a children’s book called “Cheepy and Grandma Mare”. Brigitte Wittmann Mesecke quilted a picture out of the book “Dream Snow”. Both books will be presented at the “Storytime” events at the Texas Quilt Museum.
Every Saturday at 3 p.m., the Museum hosts free Museum admission for children and their families. Texas Quilt Museum is at 140 W Colorado St., La Grange.
