EAGLE LAKE – The city council held a regular meeting on Tuesday, July 11 to discuss property taxes, ordinances and a proposed fitness court.
According to the Colorado County Elections Office, the H.B. 2015 has amended the Government Code to raise, from 70 to 75, the age at which a person qualifies for an exemption from jury service on the basis of age and the age at which a person may claim a permanent exemption from jury service.

WEIMAR – The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 held its regular meeting on July 11.
DALLAS – The Columbus FFA program had a quality showing in the FFA state speaking competitions at the Annual Texas FFA Convention. Alley Fitzgerald represented Columbus as she delivered a compelling performance in her two categories to take a top ten placement in each. She took an eighth-place finish in the Soil and Water Stewardship speaking competition for one of her top placements. Her other finish was an even higher-quality finish as she took a top three spot in Extemporaneous speaking. Fitzgerald took the bronze in that competition to round out her day and claim a medal for Columbus FFA.
DALLAS – The 95th annual Texas FFA Convention hosted Weimar FFA and hundreds of other schools as they recognized different state awards for the teams present. Weimar received plenty of recognition themselves with several of their members taking the highest honor the Texas FFA Association can bestow. They also had a few of their competitive teams receive some recognition for their performance as well in state competitions, receiving trophies and certificates to mark their achievements in their respective categories.
FRELSBURG – The parishioners of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church invite the public to their Country Festival on Sunday, Aug. 6 on the church grounds, 1031 Church Lane.
LAGRANGE – The Colorado Valley Quilt Guilt will welcome their own Kristi Asbill as a guest speaker on Tuesday, July 25 at 10 a.m.
