Eagle Lake Noon Lions host TxDOT reps

At a recent meeting of the Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club, TxDOT Area Engineer Ryan Simper and Paul Rodriguez, TxDOT Assistant Area Engineer reviewed various projects included in the 2024-2025 Yoakum District’s Rural Transportation Improvement Plan.

They reinforced Tx-DOT’s important safety campaign “End The Streak”. Most crashes and fatalities are preventable by drivers following these important safety actions: ∙ Using seat belts ∙ Driving the speed limit ∙ Driving only when sober ∙ Driving without the distraction of phones TxDOT is currently working on road safety in our district by installing roadside rumble strips, median barriers to prevent head-on crashes, widening lanes where needed and resurfacing roadways. There are projects underway to widen highways, add turn lanes, add median barriers and install sidewalks.

Also, the district is working on adding new traffic signals, upgrading existing traffic signals and adding overhead lighting.
