Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 9.3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.79/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 4.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 7.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 2.6 cents in the last week and stands at $4.06 per gallon.

LA GRANGE – The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild hosted their premier competition of the year with the “Best Little Quilt Show in Texas” with several quilters and artists competing for the best quilt in each category.

COLUMBUS – The girls of the Boys and Girls Club enjoyed a new experience as the GirlFriends group took them on a trip to the Robert Wells Jr. Airport on Feb. 12.

Columbus High School will soon play host to a local Black History Banquet to celebrate African Americans and their contributions to the arts and the country. The event is scheduled for March 2 at the Columbus High School cafeteria at 7 p.m.

The Colorado County Beef and Forage Committee is prepared to host their upcoming Beef and Forage 5-Hour CEU Educational Event scheduled for Monday, Feb. 26.

COLUMBUS – The Office of Emergency management will begin seeking feedback during the public opinion phase of the Hazard Mitigation Plan construction period. After seeking called in and written responses from county residents, the OEM will host a public meeting for residents to learn more about the current plan and to provide feedback.

The Columbus Lady Cardinals hosted a softball tournament last week where they were able to get five more games under their belt before their first district game.

After phenomenal senior seasons Ty’Vone Whitehead and Jayden Trapp have committed to Texas A&M University Kingsville to continue their careers.

The Columbus Lady Cardinals are heading to the third round of the playoffs after capturing the Bi-District and Area Championships last week. The Lady Cards defeated Randolph on Tuesday, Feb. 13, then came back on Friday and beat Poth on Friday, Feb. 16 to capture the titles.

The Rice Raiders and Columbus Cardinals met for the second time on Tuesday, Feb. 13, and the sequel lived up to the hype of their first game.
