The John Everett Chapter, DAR, (Daughters of the American Revolution), and the Robert Rankin Chapter #62, SAR (Sons of the American Revolution), presented Richard LaCourse and Rebecka LaCourse, whose residence is located at 1051 Schulenburg Lane, in Columbus, with the American flag display certificate for October 2024.

The American flag is raised high in honor of those relative that have serve(ed) our country: David C. La-Course, US Army; Dale Alecander, US Army; Russel C. Graves, US Marines; Timothy Rester, US Marines; Ricard LaCourse Sr. (1948-2017), US Marines; Henry LaCourse (19472018, US Coast Guard; and Lucien “Sarge” LaCourse (1921-2000), US Army. These patriots gave their time, their souls, and their commitment to us for the rights and freedoms we hold.

The US Army flag is flown proudly as parents of a United States soldier. The flag was provided to Richard and Rebecka LaCourse by their son David C. LaCourse. David LaCourse told his parents, “You will know when I graduate from basic training because I will send an Army flag.” The day that flag was delivered was a moment of pride, excitement, mixed in with a little fear. Every day when Rebecka and Ricard see the Army flag whipping in the wind, they know that God’s hands are not just guiding that flag but their son as well. Richard and Rebecka also know that the breath of the soldiers before David are whispering in his ear.

Richard LaCourse currently serves as the Colorado County Precinct 1 Constable, Assistant Fire Chief with the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department, and Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Columbus. Rebecka LaCourse currently serves as the Colorado County Election Administrator.
