Those hoping to vote in the Nov. 7 amendments elections have a limited time to register to vote as the voter registration deadline nears. The final day to register to vote and have a say in the upcoming amendments elections is Tuesday, Oct. 10. Early voting begins Oct. 23 and ends on Nov. 3 according to the Texas Secretary of State’s office. Voters will decide on 14 potential amendments including measures to increase the homestead exemption from $40,000 to $100,000, with homeowners 65 and older getting an additional $40,000 exemption as well as other property tax related bills.

The CJHS seventh grade and eighth grade Lady Cards volleyball A-teams participated in the Brenham Middle School Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 16. It was a double-elimination tournament.

COLUMBUS – For the 45th straight year, the county fairgrounds once again hosted the Colorado County Fair in a celebration of the milestone. People from all over the county converged on the fairgrounds to listen to music, enjoy rides and play games as they celebrated the annual event from Thursday, Sept 14 to Saturday, Sept. 16.

Residents are invited to join a virtual public-engagement forum and wrap-up Sept. 28 on the 1093 Rails to Trails Project from Eagle Lake to Fulshear, organizers said.

The Wintermann Foundation will be the 45th annual Colorado County Fair Parade Marshall and will lead the parade at 10 a.m. on Sept 16.

The Colorado County Fair Royalty was chosen during a pageant held on September 7, and this year’s Fair Queen is Talyr Tipton. First Runner Up for Queen is Ashley Treece, and Second Runner Up is Alinna Elizondo.
