Each member built their own model aircraft in the hope of seeing them fly, and Brian Novak, club coordinator for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley, even pitched in to help.

The Eagle Lake Community Garden Guild has chosen the home of Dan and Inez Matura, 308 Burns Ave. in Eagle Lake, for the September Yard of the Month. The landscape yard is maintained by Inez Matura and is full of plants and flowers including drift roses and Peggy Martin roses, Mexican bush, purple sage and many other plants. A solar birdbath and fountain attract hummingbirds to the feeders.

The lull is over!

Ladies’ Night Out, Christmas on the Colorado Lighted Parade, Santa Claus Museum open every Friday now from 12 noon to 6 p.m., Lunch & Learns, Columbus High School Career Fair, becoming a Film Friendly Texas town, and even a Casino Night are some of the projects that the Columbus Chamber of Commerce is working on. Combined with school being back in session and sports ramping up, it is the beginning of busy times in Columbus and Colorado County.
