Today the St. Anthony classes are celebrating Christmas with Mass, caroling, class lunches, a pep rally and an early release at 12:30 p.m. for the holiday break. Classes will resume on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024.

The Lil Einstein Learning Center in Columbus held their bike giveaway event on Saturday, Dec. 16 to give the parents and kids of Lil Einstein’s a significant gift for Christmas. The event featured the bikes, donuts and drinks, as well as pictures with the Grinch following receiving the new gifts.

The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 12 with 10 members present. The meeting was opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.

There are many ways we take care of our health, from eating healthy foods and moving our bodies to visiting the doctor for annual exams. But social connection is one aspect of aging and living well that is often overlooked.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Austin and Colorado counties are partnering with Texas Parks and Wildlife to host a Feathers, Furs, and Farming program on Dec. 15. The focus of this program will center around Wildlife Tax Valuation.

The John Everett Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and Robert Rankin No. 62 Sons of the American Revolution recognized Rick and Wendy Haley for their American Flag display for the month of December. It is located at 207 McCormick St. in Columbus.

EAGLE LAKE – The Eagle Lake City Council recognized the Whispering Oaks and Eagle Lake 4-H Clubs at their most recent city council meeting. The students were commended for their volunteer efforts surrounding the city’s events on Veterans Day. YARD OF THE MONTH AND COMMUNITY BEAUTIFICATION AWARD DECIDED FOR DECEMBER

On Dec. 12, 2023, David Lee Zatopek’s soul ascended to the holy embrace of his beloved Jesus. His prayers were answered; he has joined his mother and father and is now cradled in the loving arms of God the Father and the Blessed Virgin Mary. David ‘s work and service to God on Earth is done, and he was prepared and accepted his new role with the Almighty.
