Weimar VFW reconvenes for holiday meeting

The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 12 with 10 members present. The meeting was opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.

Muras forwarded an email to the members as part of the proceedings.

There are currently 15 regular members and 21 life members for a total of 36 members.

Dolores Lauck asked members to help distribute stockings to homebound veterans and Auxiliary members. Muras reported that wreaths are ready to be picked up. There were 14 veterans, 8 residents and 2 Auxiliary volunteers present at the Men’s Coffee at Parkview on Nov. 17. Christmas cards were collected for distribution to hospitalized veterans. Members voted to donate to the Nursing Scholarship Program and to make Nurse Survival Kits for distribution in January. Cookies will also be distributed to community personnel in January.

For the Good of the Order, Charlene Muras mentored members on certain requirements for the Auxiliary. Jeanette Koenig reminded members to fly the U.S. Flag on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day on Jan. 1.

The next meeting will be on Jan. 9, 2024 at 6 p.m. at the Weimar VFW Hall kitchen with an Audit prior to the meeting.
