The Texas labor market again achieved new record-high levels for jobs, Texans employed, and the civilian labor force following over-themonth increases in February. Texas’ seasonally adjusted job count increased by 49,800 over the month of February to reach 14,103,700 jobs. Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 10.8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.14/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 35.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 7.0 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. Recent estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that six of the 10 fastest-growing counties in the United States from 2022 to 2023 were in Texas. According to the Texas Tribune, Kaufman County, just east of Dallas, led the list with a 7.6% increase in new residents that brought its population to more than 185,000.
