The Weimar Ladycats volleyball team’s playoff hopes now have a question mark next to it after losing both of their district games this week.

The Ladycats lost to Shiner and Schulenburg but remain in the hunt for a playoff spot but may need some extra help to fully punch their ticket.

Vs. Shiner, L, 0-3 (25-22, 25-17, 25-15) The Ladycats started there week off rough dropping their first of two district matchups in three straight sets.

The first set was the closest of the three as the Ladycats and Shiner went back and forth for the entire set. No lead was safe in the first set and the two teams just beat each other up.

Once the dust settled Shiner was standing tall and rode that momentum through, the next two sets. The Ladycats could not find their offensive rhythm again after the first set as Shiner kept them below 20 points for the rest of the match.

The Ladycats set their sights in Schulenburg after the tough loss, looking to bounce back and get back in the win column on Friday, Oct. 20, on the road.

@ Schulenburg, L, 3-1, (16 25, 25-22, 17-25, 18-25) The Ladycats traveled to Schulenburg for their second district matchup of the week looking to get back on track late in the season.

The match started a little slow for the Ladycats after putting up only 16 points, but they were still buzzing around. The second set the Ladycats continued to buzz on the court and ended up taking the second set 25-22.

The Ladycats entered the pivotal third set feeling confident that they could put themselves in the driver’s seat for the match. Unfortunately, Schulenburg was not fazed by the Ladycats’ victory in the second set and continued to attack.

Schulenburg secured wins in the third and fourth set keeping the Ladycats under 20 points again and closed out the match.

The Ladycats are going to need some help in the form of other teams losing as well as them winning their last game against Ganado on Tuesday, Oct. 24, to keep their playoff hope alive and accomplish their goal that they set at the beginning of the season.
