EAGLE LAKE – On March 30, the Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club welcomed the Honorable Judge Stan Warfield Justice of the Peace, Colorado County, Precinct 4 and his Chief Clerk of Court, Laura Maldonado.

Vietnam Veterans of America, Columbus Chapter 1127, hosted a gathering of VVA chapters from Schulenburg, El Campo, Hallettsville, and Victoria to celebrate National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The gathering was held March 29 at the Columbus Hall (Columbus KC Hall). The organization said approximately 200 attendees, including veteran members and their spouses, enjoyed a catered barbecue dinner, three hours of brotherhood, a guest speaker, writer Elaine Thomas, a slideshow, and a silent auction. This is the second year that area VVA chapters have come together to celebrate the national holiday. The Columbus chapter said the event will most likely continue to be an annual event, which will rotate among the chapters.

Joseph and Cassondra Olsen of Columbus are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Parker Renn Olsen on March 14 in Brenham, Texas. He weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and measured 19.5 inches in length.

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Chamber of Commerce is joining Medical Skin Associates and Spa to host the April Lunch and Learn at the Stafford Opera House – Buddy Rau Room.

WALLIS – Five local governments have joined together as a local government corporation to plan and build a 31-mile shared-use trail along a former rail line west of Houston and are hosting the second of a series of public meetings from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at the Wallis Columbus Club Hall, 703 Columbus Road.
