EAGLE LAKE – The Police Department looks slightly different as several officers were promoted to a new rank at the recent City Council meeting on Nov. 14. The department also welcomed a new member to their forces during the council meeting as well.

Kist By Grace, a Christian Praise and Worship band based in Orchard, Texas, will be performing an Advent-Christmas Concert on Dec. 9, Saturday, beginning at 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 615 South Eagle, Weimar.

LA GRANGE – The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild will be having a Nov. 28, Charity Workshop at the Randolph Community Center at 653 E Pearl St. the week after Thanksgiving.

The Deputy Santa Program will be a collaboration this year between the Sheriff’s Office and the Family & Youth Services. Applications for Deputy Santa can be picked up at the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office or at FAYS at 514 Washington St. All applications must be submitted at either location by 5 p.m. on Dec. 1. Applicants must be residents of Colorado County. Those wishing to donate gifts can also leave their donations at the listed locations as well as the Farm Bureau. The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on Nov. 14 with eight present members. The meeting opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.

As the holiday season approaches, it was appropriate that the theme of this year’s Columbus Garden Club Small Standard Flower Show was “Let’s Celebrate”.

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Boy Scout Troop 312 is hosting a hamburger fundraiser on Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the proceeds returning to the scout program in the town. The Columbus Noon Lions Club is providing their signature grilled burgers along with a bag of chips as the dinner offered in the drive through fundraiser. COLUMBUS – Columbus Community Hospital will celebrate the completion of its multi-year building expansion and renovation project at the Columbus Community Dedication and Celebration event Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Columbus Wellness Center.
