EAGLE LAKE – The Police Department looks slightly different as several officers were promoted to a new rank at the recent City Council meeting on Nov. 14. The department also welcomed a new member to their forces during the council meeting as well.

Kist By Grace, a Christian Praise and Worship band based in Orchard, Texas, will be performing an Advent-Christmas Concert on Dec. 9, Saturday, beginning at 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 615 South Eagle, Weimar.

LA GRANGE – The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild will be having a Nov. 28, Charity Workshop at the Randolph Community Center at 653 E Pearl St. the week after Thanksgiving.

The Deputy Santa Program will be a collaboration this year between the Sheriff’s Office and the Family & Youth Services. Applications for Deputy Santa can be picked up at the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office or at FAYS at 514 Washington St. All applications must be submitted at either location by 5 p.m. on Dec. 1. Applicants must be residents of Colorado County. Those wishing to donate gifts can also leave their donations at the listed locations as well as the Farm Bureau. The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on Nov. 14 with eight present members. The meeting opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.

The Columbus Cardinals hosted the Columbia Roughnecks for their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Columbus High School.

The Rice Lady Raiders basketball season is officially underway and already have three games under their belt.

The Weimar Ladycats volleyball season may be over, but they are still earning honors because of their efforts this past season.

The Weimar Wildcats traveled to Robstown and defeated the La Villa Cardinals 28-6 to be crowded the Area Champions on Friday, Nov. 17.

The Weimar Ladycats defeated the Waelder Wildcats 63-7 to start their season off in dominate fashion.

The ecumenical St. Nicholas Ministry has helped thousands of needy individuals and families in tri-county area of Colorado, Fayette and Lavaca Counties over its 36-year history. This ministry identifies and assists those who are struggling, like needy children, their families and the elderly by providing gifts such as boxes of food, new toys, blankets/quilts and other items during the Christmas season.

The Navidad Valley CattleWomen (NVCW) were blessed to receive a donation of Cody Johnson concert tickets last spring from a very generous donor. The proceeds received by auctioning off the tickets have been designated to assist with piloting a collegiate scholarship program.
