COLUMBUS — The Texas Right to Life organization gathered residents of Colorado County who share their values for a protest march on Jan. 27 through the streets of downtown and finished their rally with several keynote speakers outside of the county courthouse.

The speakers featured religious officials as well as other representatives discussing the recent legislation at the state level regarding abortion and other topics. Several residents in attendance held signs as groups like the Catholic Daughters and the Weimar-based Knights of Columbus branch were well represented within the ranks of the marchers. Families, military and individuals populated the walkers as they participated in their rally to protest the topics of note.

The march began at Industry State Bank at 2015 Milam St. before walking down Milam to the east side of the courthouse.

“It’s important to speak up as a community to protect life from the womb to the tomb,” The Texas Right to Life organization said in the invitation to the march.

The organization provided signs for the marchers in attendance, but several brought their own signs to participate in the event.
