COLUMBUS – The April 8 regular meeting for the Colorado County Commissioners Court saw the entity change more speed limits on county roads and recognize several proclamations to celebrate national initiatives.

Colorado County will hold two separate elections in May. Both elections are equally important for different reasons. It is also imperative that voters pay attention to voting locations and times because each election is different.
COLUMBUS – The Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham delivered good news to city officials as well as a few checks for a total of $16 million in regional mitigation program grants for various water related projects around the town and the county.
COLUMBUS – The Habitat for Humanity organization helped bring residents to the entities and organizations that serve them every day by hosting the Community Connections event on the Courthouse Square on Saturday, April 7.
Jerome “J.D.” Wied of Garwood died April 6, 2024 at the age of 83. He was born May 15, 1940 in El Campo to Raymond and Josephine Kosler Wied. He worked for Garwood Irrigation Company for many years and for LCRA before he retired. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Korea. J. D. was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of Knights of Columbus #3371.
Joyce Marie (Wostarek) Shupak of Frelsburg, Texas, passed away on April 4, 2024. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

The program is an informative and entertaining series on culture, presented by local and renowned artists and experts of diverse and interesting backgrounds. The series allows participants to immerse themselves in learning and increase their knowledge of the arts.
It’s nearing the middle of April and there is still so much to do with spring cleaning or organizing the flower beds.
