Several county churches are holding Ash Wednesday events today, Feb. 14, as well as services throughout Lent season. The following is not an exhaustive list of events happening in Colorado County. COLUMBUS – First Baptist Church is hosting a 12-week study of the book of Ephesians in the Bible starting on Feb. 15. The nearly two-hour session begins at 1 p.m.

This year’s theme is the invitation of Jesus, “COME TO ME.” We come confessing our sins, seeking God’s healing, seeking guidance, looking to be fed, longing to belong, hoping to discover our purpose, and finding God as a source of strength in all our struggles.
The Community Bible Study organization invites women in the Columbus area to participate in a 12-week study of Ephesians on Thursdays starting with Thursday, Feb. 15.

I’m not sure what happened to my closely guarded diet during these recent holidays, but I won’t ask. The Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage has been so busy cooking and preparing food that she didn’t have time to oversee my diet.

Due to the generosity of the community as well as the members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus, the St. Paul Peru team was able to raise over $10,000 during 2023 to send to its sister congregation, Iglesia Cristiana Camino de Santidad in Cañete, Peru. These funds were used to improve their church building.
Everybody has their own comfort food. I have a long list of comfort food, and Apple Fritter is at the top. Nothing comforts me quite like a fresh Apple Fritter.
