COLUMBUS – Early voting is in full swing in Colorado County as the first wave of polling for the March 5 primaries comes close to an end. However, the newly refurbished Elections Center at 1117 Travis St. had to deal with some unfortunate circumstances on Tuesday, Feb. 20 as a poll worker relieved themselves from their duties after witnesses reported the worker discussing a local resident in a negative light.

Financial incentives program aids forestry climate solution practices

Texas A&M Forest Service is awarding $8.25 million through the Texas Climate-Smart Initiative, a financial incentives program to fund non-industrial, private, small-acreage landowners. The five-year project, led by Texas A&M AgriLife Research and funded by the USDA’s Partnership for Climate-Smart Commodities grant, will provide financial incentives to agricultural commodities across Texas.

State gas prices fall over last week, according to GasBuddy

Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 9.3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.79/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 4.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 7.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 2.6 cents in the last week and stands at $4.06 per gallon.
