LARRY LEE AUSTIN

Larry Lee Austin was born on Feb. 17, 1937, in Eagle Lake, Texas to Samuel and Lillie Estelle (Barker) Austin. He died on June 12, 2023, in Katy, Texas after a short illness. He was 86 years young.

Larry spent his childhood in Eagle Lake. He graduated from Eagle Lake High School in 1955.

He was co-owner of Austin Amusements. After he sold that business he then went on to co-own Austin Grocery with his brother Kenneth Austin, until his retirement in 2003.

Larry loved swimming in his pool and doing yardwork. Some other things he loved to do was driving nice cars and mostly fast cars, vacationing and watching Dallas Cowboy football games.

Larry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Austin; daughter Denice both of Eagle Lake; son Duane and wife Dianna of Pace, Florida; brother Gene Austin of Santa Barbara, California; grandchildren Keith Austin and wife Haylee, Kory Janow and wife Ana, Kaylee Janow, Duane Lee Austin, Natalie Schoenthal and husband Justin, Stephanie Mahalitc, Jacqi Raymond and husband Kevin and Clayton Mahalitc and wife Caroline; great grandson Keian Austin; brother-inlaw Greg Duyka and wife Dana; sister-in-law Judy Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; son Darrell Austin; brothers Carl and Kenneth; sisters Erline Listowski, Dorothy Austin and baby sister Carolyn; sisters-in-law JoAnn Austin and Gladys Austin; brothers-in-law Clinton Duyka and Anthony Duyka.

A private graveside service was conducted on June 15, 2023, at Lakeside Cemetery with Stan Warfield officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were Kory Janow, Ryan DeBolt, Greg Duyka, Kaylee Janow, and Duane Lee Austin.
