BETTY JOYCE WEGENHOFT
Betty was born June 17, 1930, in Eagle Lake to Elo and Viola Linke. She is a graduate of Eagle Lake High School and Baylor University with a degree in History.
After graduating from college Betty returned to Eagle Lake and began her teaching career. Shortly after returning to Eagle Lake Betty met Bill Wegenhoft at a church picnic. Betty and Bill were married on October 19, 1953.
Bill was soon drafted into the army and the two of them moved to Ansbach, Germany where Bill was stationed. Betty remembered this time in their early marriage as one of the best times of her life. After returning home from Germany Betty & Bill welcomed the first of their three children.
Betty was a passionate reader and was constantly shopping for books. She loved to purchase books for her children, grandchildren, friends and the local library. Betty and Bill loved to travel and would plan epic family vacations. In their later years they enjoyed the freedom to take off on a trip when the mood struck them.
After retiring from teaching, Betty served on the board of the Eula and David Wintermann Library and the Rice Medical Center. She also began overseeing financial and administrative affairs of the family ranching and farming business.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, her brother Gene Linke, her aunt and uncle Leona and Harry Brower, and sonin- law Daniel Moran. She is survived by her three children: daughter Cindy Moran, son Curt Wegenhoft and his wife Allison; son Carl Wegenhoft; and grandchildren Rachel Wegenhoft, William Moran, Elliott Moran, and Mitchell Moran.
A graveside service was held on Friday, April 11, 2:00 p.m. at Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake. Rev. Joshua Turpin officiated. The burial was at Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake. Services were under the direction of Henneke Funeral home in Columbus.

Betty lived a long, full and meaningful life. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed every day.
