ANELA LUANA BARRETT

ANELA LUANA BARRETT

Anela Luana Barrett, 44, of Columbus, died on April 1. Anela was born on September 9, 1980, in Wailuku, Maui to Kimo Javier and Marilyn Tapangco. She married the love of her life, Clint Barrett, on March 11, 2023.

Anela loved spending time with her family and community. She could be seen “taking a spin” around town with her friends. She also loved animals, especially her pets Nalu and Pennie. Anela was an avid cheerleader for anything that her children participated in, whether it was welding, or barbeque cook off team. Anela was part of the Band Booster Club in support of her daughter Sienna.

She also enjoyed having lunch in Beason’s Park with her son Colton. Anela kept her husband Clint busy creating home and backyard projects for them and the kids to enjoy. Anela and Clint also enjoyed sitting together to watch their favorite shows.

Anela was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Anela worked for the Columbus school district for over 15 years and most recently worked for the Colorado County Attorney’s office. Anela’s organizational skills have supported many teachers and staff over the years. Anela’s infectious laugh reminded us to live life to the fullest and be in the moment.

Anela was preceded in death by her grandfather Saturnino Tapangco, her grandmother Crispina Tapangco and her father Kimo Javier.

She is survived by her beloved husband Clint Barrett, her daughter Sienna Javier- Carter, her son Colton Carter, her stepson Cullen Barrett, her stepdaughter Calleigh Barrett, her mother Marilyn Tapangco, her dad Paul Dower, her sister Melissa Chang, her brother Boe Dower and numerous nephews, cousins, and inlaws.
