EUNICE CLAYBORNE BRATCHER

Eunice Clayborne Bratcher 89, died on March 21. Born at home in the Kountz Bridge area south of Columbus, Texas on June 22, 1935. Eunice is daughter of the late Thomas J. Perrino & Annie Mae Clayborne-Davis.

Eunice had a passion for Bingo and her family. She was an amazing cook - ensuring anyone that was hungry had a plate to eat. Despite her challenges in life, Eunice was a happy person that shared her joy by making people laugh with her own laughter, a big smile, jokes and hilarious comments.

She was known for saying out loud whatever was on her mind without a buffer. She loved to watch Steve Harvey Family Feud, action movies, professional football and basketball. A family joke was her reference to President Obama as her “other son.”

Eunice was a character & would sneak and eat her favorite foods regardless of her medical restrictions. She was a strong, resilient woman and devoted member of St. Paul United Methodist Church who served on the usher board for many years.

Eunice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence Bratcher, Jr. of 55 years; her younger sister, Cynthia Pierre, & her younger brothers Samuel “Red” Perrino, James “Bubba” Washington & Leonard Earl Booker.

Eunice is survived by 3 brothers: Thomas Perrino, Jerry Perrino, Timothy Perrino; sisters: Phyllis Perrino Moore (Erving), Rachel Perrino Jackson (Stonewall “Stoney”), Diane Davis Bailey & sister- in-law, Barbara Coleman Waddle (Robert) and brother-in-law, Robert Coreathers.

She also leaves behind to cherish her memories five children, Thomas N. Carter, Tandy “Paul” Carter & Gina (daughterin- law), Toleta E. Carter, Tina M. James & Melvin (son-in-law), Toni C. Carter and 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home, 1515 Montezuma St., Columbus, Texas. Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, April 5, 11:00 a.m. at her home church, St. Paul United Methodist Church, 916 Fannin St., Columbus. Interment immediately after the service at Willing Workers Cemetery, FM806, Columbus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers are Deron Bullard, Grandson, Chester Thomas Carter, Grandson, Ismail Jones, Nephew, Damon Matthews, Nephew, Tyrrell Glenn, Cousin, Brian Glenn, Cousin, and Limmie Earl Evans, Cousin Alternate.
