ELIZABETH “BETSY” LAWTON BOSTICK MILLER
ELIZABETH “BETSY” LAWTON BOSTICK MILLER

Betsy was born on January 18, 1940, in Hampton, South Carolina to Joseph Maner Bostick and Mildred Archambault Bostick. She was one of four children, and her siblings were Joe, Gene and Mary.
Betsy was a graduate of Estill High School and attended Lander College in Greenwood, South Carolina.
She married the love of her life, Arlin “Cotton” Miller on June 16, 1961. They traveled to France where they resided for two years while her husband was enlisted in the Air Force. They then returned to Garwood where together they became rice farmers. While Cotton was in the fields Betsy was taking care of the family as a loving and devoted wife and mother of two to Mary Ann Miller and Ricky Miller.
After her husband died in 1995, Betsy used her nursing skills from college for the next twenty years. She served others by taking care of the elderly as a home health nurse.
Betsy moved to Columbus to be near her friends. She was an active member of the community. She loved the Garden Club and the Historical Museum. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Flowers and gardening were her passion but her children and grandchildren, Lawton, Hannah and Isabella were her life. She loved to visit with them often, play games and do puzzles. Betsy loved talking with them about their day and wanted to know everything about them. She was a wonderful Gran. She will be greatly missed by all those that she shared her beautiful smile with and loved her.
Betsy is survived by her sister Mary Sanders; sister-in-law Kay Bostick; son Ricky Miller and wife Kayleen Miller; grandchildren Lawton, Hannah, and Isabella Miller.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents; brothers Gene Bostick and Joe Bostick; husband Cotton Miller; daughter Mary Ann Miller.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A burial will follow in Lehrer Memorial Cemetery in Garwood.
