SHERMAN CARTER

“Your light will always shine” Sherman Carter was born August 12, 1971, to Jo Ann Johnson and Sherman Johnson in Columbus, TX. He was the youngest and the only son. He and his family were members of the St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Sherman attended and graduated from Columbus High School and was a member of Future Farmers of America (FFA). He went on to further his education, graduating from Texas State Technical College in Waco as a licensed butcher.

Sherman had a passion for volunteering at several community organizations including FFA fundraising events. He also extended his hand in service at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church helping to cook the food for their various fundraisers as well. Sherman passed away on February 10. Awaiting his arrival in Heaven are his father, Sherman Johnson; his grandparents: Florence & LJ Steward and David & Julie Carter; and two sisters: Joanna Dawkins and Renee Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Jo Ann Johnson;

CARTER, 7 three sisters: Cheryl Evans (Kenneth), Alice Carter, and Diane Carter; three aunts: Barbara Twitty, Annie Porter, and Shinola Moore (Kevin); and six uncles: Bobbie Moore, David Carter (Earline), Eckstine Carter, David Wayne Carter, Lane Carter (Stacey) and Rodney Carter.

He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews, 22 great nieces and nephews and 9 great-great nieces and nephews along with many cousins and friends. He also leaves a devoted and special friend, Rosa Green.
