BILLY WAYNE BROWN

Billy Wayne Brown returned with his creator at the age of 74 on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas after years of health issues. He was born in Weimar, Texas on March 27, 1950, to John William Brown and Florence (Roensch) Jurjada. He had a stepfather, William Jurajda and a stepmother, Anita Brown.

On November 17, 1973, he was united in marriage to Karen “Kay” Kansteiner in Columbus,

BROWN, 7 Texas. He was blessed with three children: Jennifer Prause of College Station, Nathan and Jen Brown of College Station and Dale and Chrissy Brown of Peoria, Illinois. His greatest blessings were his grandchildren Brant Prause and his fiancée Madi Smith of Columbus; Savannah Ramirez, Caden Brown and girlfriend Jackie Weigand and Trinity Brown all of College Station; Cyara Irions, Cyonna Irions and Emery Brown all of Peoria, Illinois; and one great grandson Kai Coleman of College Station.

Billy is also loved by brothers Thomas Brown and wife Vickie of Katy; Kenneth Brown and wife Donna of Sealy; and sister Susan Leschper and husband Andrew of Sealy; sisters-in-law Tootsie Venghaus and husband Larry of Columbus; JoAnn Venghaus and husband Kenny of Columbus; Patsy Melnar and husband Mark of Columbus; Fritzie Malota and husband Justin Jr of Fayetteville; brotherin- law Jimmy Kansteiner of Columbus; father and mother-in-law L.E. and Imogene Kansteiner of Columbus, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father John William Brown; brother David Brown and his wife Pat; grandparents Willie and Alma Roensch; grandparents Edward and Mamie Brown; and best friend Calvin Roensch.

Billy was the owner of Brown Electric Company, Inc. in Columbus, Texas for 25 years. He was employed by Texas Parks and Wildlife as a Construction Inspector, and a City Inspector for the City of Sealy prior to retirement.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas with Ray Mendez officiating. A visitation was held on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home. A burial followed in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus.

Serving as pallbearers were James Supak, Justin Malota, Jr, Jackie Sweat, Jake Sadtler, Tony Andrews and Cory Schonenberg.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Irving Morales, Scotty Reeves, Lee McCarty, Rick Kent, Jerry Rester, Earl Fry, Hugh Toepperwein, Jimmy Kleimann, Robert Henneke, Tom Rabb, Ray Mendez and all the Brown Electric Company employees.
