KATHLEEN ANNE (GARNER) BLASCHKE
She was born on December 21, 1944, to Carl W. Garner and Winifred (Wells) Garner in New York City, New York. After graduating from Mt. Carmel High School, she received an associate’s degree from San Jacinto Junior College, then went to Stephen F. Austin College, seeking an Interior Decorating degree. On April 20, 1968, she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Blaschke, who, at the time, was in flight school training with the U. S. Navy. During his entire military career, Kathy provided tremendous support, enlightenment and encouragement. She was truly a dedicated military wife.
Kathleen enjoyed creating visual displays and floral arrangements and attended many workshops refining her skills. She was very interested in genealogy and made many field trips to research her ancestors. Kathy loved antiquing and furniture restoration and spent many happy hours working on her “projects”. She also loved cats and dogs and enjoyed their companionship.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Jim Blaschke, and cousins Rita Garner Kotzur and daughter Col. Tiffany Chapman, Tim Garner and spouse Sue Hyka and Tim’s son Jason Garner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Winifred Garner.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, Texas. Fr. James Dvorak will be officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with a parish rosary at 9:30 AM.
Burial will take place in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Yorktown, Texas, at 2:00 PM.
