WILLIAM HARVEY WILSON

William Harvey Wilson, Jr., 88, of Frelsburg, Texas, passed away on December 12, 2024, in Columbus, Texas.

He was born on January 26, 1936, to William Harvey Wilson, Sr. and Gladys (Blockwell) Wilson in Diboll, Texas. On July 28, 1967, he married Mary Lee Schoppa.

William worked as a tax assessor for many years. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a radio operator. William was also a founding member of the Frelsburg Volunteer Fire Department.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg. William was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Finance Committee and Cemetery Association. He was a dedicated Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

After William retired, he and Mary Lee kept busy with all types of activities like delivering cars for dealerships. One of William’s passions was creating beautiful wood pieces that he shared with his neighbors and friends. These gifts will be treasured for years to come. William also loved being a HAM operator which allowed him to converse with other Texans through the years.

WILSON, 11 William is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Lee Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Gladys Wilson.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. A Knights of Columbus rosary followed at 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg with Fr. Bob Knippenberg officiating. Visitation at church was from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The burial took place in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Frelsburg, Texas.

Pallbearers were Paul Michalsky, Mark Kubicek, Jim Kubicek, Robert Socha, Leslie Heinsohn, and DeWayne Dvorak.
