Anita Vega Meismer went home to our Lord on Saturday, December 7, 2024, aged 86. She was a longtime resident of Nada, Texas where her and husband Leon moved from Baytown upon his retirement. She was born in Louise, TX to William and Marcelina Vega July 26, 1938.

Anita was a very active member of the community. She was President of the Catholic Daughters, Democratic Election Judge (Baytown), as well as a member of the Garden Club, German Shorthaired Pointer Club, Gatabouts, which were the driving force getting the Veterans Memorial in Garwood, TX.

Anita was also a graduate of Lee College in Baytown, TX. She loved her volunteer work and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many outdoor activities. She had an amazing recollection of flowers & trees. Anita could name any by sight or description.

Anita met Leon Meismer via pen pals, starting the path to their long relationship while Leon was serving in Korea. When Leon completed his deployment and tour of duty in the US Army they were married on March 1, 1954.

They were married 59 years until Leon’s passing in 2013. They had four children: Mike, Pat (wife, Jeannie) of Garwood, TX, Bruce (wife, Kimberly) of Kerrville, TX and Gi (Husband, Dan) of Coldspring, TX.

Anita has 11 Grandchildren, 37 Great-Grandc hildren and two Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Anita was proceeded in death by Husband Leon, Parents William and Marcella Vega, Brother Gilbert Garcia, Sister Rebecca Norris, Son Michael Meismer, Grandchildren Jonathan Leon Meismer, Katrina Von & Michael Harris, Heidi Elizabeth Harper, Chase Gregory McGarity. Great-Grandchild Hayden Harris. She is survived by a sister Dell Williams of Victoria, TX and brother Robert Garcia of Houston, TX.

Visitation at Triska Funeral Home will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 with a Rosary to follow at 1:30 p.m. Graveside services will follow the Rosary at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Nada.

Pallbearers are Jody Meismer, Chris Meismer, Joseph Meismer, Casey McGarity, Brandon Meismer, Levi Armstrong, Alex Meismer, Javier Garza and William Cox.

Charitable donations can be made in Memory of Anita Meismer to 30 Pebble Beach Circle Coldspring, TX 77331 to be distributed to Garwood Volunteer Fire Department.
