GLADYS WALDINE ULBRICHT
She was born on February 11, 1930, to Charles William G. Hattermann, Sr., and Alma (Brune) Hattermann in Glidden, Texas. On October 7, 1950, she married Marvin H. Ulbricht at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus.
Gladys grew up in the Borden area and attended school at Oak Grove. She was a homemaker and a seamstress and owned a drapery business. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church where she was in the Altar Guild and president of the church council.
She and Marvin belonged to a dance club and caravaned to 49 states traveling with friends. They lived in Louisiana, Colorado and Texas following Marvin’s job.
After retiring to Columbus in the early 1990’s, Gladys was involved with the Colorado Co. Home Demonstration Club, Caring Hearts Club in Weimar, and Domino Club in Weimar.
Gladys’ hobbies included counted cross stitch, dancing, playing dominoes with friends, social dinner club and traveling. She especially enjoyed hosting her annual New Years Eve domino party.
Gladys is survived by her daughter Susan Rebecca Ulbricht Terry and husband John of Pattison; son Marv Lee Ulbricht and wife Fay Evanicky Ulbricht of Weimar; sister Shirley Hattermann Kulhanek of Columbus; grandchildren Cameron Terry and wife Cynthia of Houston, Brandon Terry of Las Vegas, Nevada, Timothy Ulbricht and Thomas Ulbricht both of Weimar.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Marvin H. Ulbricht; parents Alma and Charles Hatterman, Sr.; brothers Charles Hattermann, Jr. and wife Madeline German Hattermann and Melvin Hattermann.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church in Weimar Texas. Visitation at church will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Interment will be in Weimar Masonic Cemetery in Weimar. A reception will follow at the Faith Lutheran Church fellowship hall.
Pallbearers are Timothy Ulbricht, Thomas Ulbricht, Cameron Terry, Alan Hattermann, Byron Hattermann, and Jeffery Cook. Honorary pallbearers are Roy & Margaret Kaase, Mary & Melvin Otto, Elsie Kahlden, Ron & Maryann Peach, Nelda Hajdik, Lynette Kahlden, Emma Nitschke, Rosalie Meyer, Bernetta Cook, Billie Grohmann, and Sandy Pesak.
The family would like to thank Pastor Herb Beyer of Faith Lutheran Church, members of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Faith Lutheran Church, all of the people that volunteered to serve at the reception, and the doctors and nurses at the Columbus Community Hospital for all of their support.
