She was born on February 21, 1940, to John Marusik and Francis (Kopecky) Marusik in La Grange, Texas. On July 30, 1960, she married Leonard Antone Wavra.

Georgie worked as a dental assistant for many years for Moeller Dental.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Court Mary Queen of the Snows #1588, and St. Anne Altar Society.

Georgie enjoyed cooking and visiting with family. She especially loved visits with her grandchildren.

Georgie is survived by her husband of sixty- four years, Leonard Wavra; son Merle Wavra and wife Phyllis; brother Jerry Marusik and wife Kathy; grandchildren Brandon Wavra, Madison Wavra, and Logan Wavra; nieces Shelly Cooney and husband Sean and Amy McFarling; great nieces Gemma and Stella; great nephew Luke.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Francis Marusik; son Leonard Wavra, Jr.; brother Johnnie Marusik; inlaws Frank and Marcella Wavra; nephew Rob Mc-Farling.

A visitation was held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. A parish prayer service officiated by Deacon Rusty Theut and a Catholic Daughter rosary will follow.

Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, Texas. Fr. James Dvorak officiating. Visitation at church was from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

A private family burial will take place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.

Pallbearers were Brandon Wavra, Logan Wavra, Allen Hoelscher, Jerry Marusik, Donnie Wavra, and Harold Peikert.
