LOIS FAYE NICHOLS

Lois Faye Nichols, 81, of Columbus, Texas, passed away on September 11, 2024, at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital in Katy, Texas.

She was born on February 16, 1943, to Barney E. and Frances Lee Nichols in Henderson, Texas.

When Lois was a young child her family moved to Katy, Texas where her father worked for the Exxon Plant and her mother was a telephone operator.

Lois attended the Katy schools, graduating in 1962 from Katy High School. During her school years she participated in sports and cheerleading. Softball was one of her favorites and she coached little league girls for a few years. Shortly after graduation Lois met Loyd E. Matzke, and they were married on December 23, 1962. They had been married for nineteen years. On May 19, 1988, she married Wallace Kulmack.

Lois was employed by SCS Management, Randalls and held other accounting jobs.

Lois was a member of the First Baptist Church in Katy where she sang in the choir in past years.

She enjoyed playing her candy crush game, going shopping, playing her piano, playing 42, and drinking her Coca-Cola. She especially treasured her visits with her children and grandchildren.

Lois is survived by her daughters Susan Guthmann and husband Tommy of Columbus and Brenda Pockat and husband Scott of Rogers, Arkansas; sister Mavis Klehm and husband Julius of Katy; grandchildren Lauren Guthmann, Lesley Melvin and husband Travis, Mikayla Pockat, and Kimberly Smith and husband Derek; great-grandchildren Kaylee Smith, Jaydon Smith, Maxwell Deal, and Elliott Deal.

She was preceded in death by her parents Barney E. and Frances L. Nichols; brothers Kenneth Nichols and Tommy Nichols; husband Wallace Kulmack.

Funeral Service was held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas with Pastor Alan Kethan officiating. Visitation was on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Burial took place in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.

Pallbearers were Barry Colbert, Tommy Guthmann, James Klehm, and Travis Melvin. Honorary pallbearers were Julius Klehm, II, John Hurier, Scott Pockat, and her grandchildren.
