JOHN QUINCY ADAMS, JR.

John Quincy Adams, Jr., went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2024, peacefully in his home. Officially, he was born in Fabens, Texas on February 19, 1942 (though unofficial accounts suggest 1941) to John Quincy Adams, Sr., and Vera Lousie (Shelburne) Adams.

On May 12, 1991, he married the love of his life, Robyn Bankson, and traveled widely, their favorite place being the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Banff specifically. He went to school in Ft. Hancock and Sierra horses across the Mexico border. Graduating in 1960, John attended Sul Ross State University as a member of the rodeo team, while playing live music at various events and cutting a record on the Yucca label in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Leaving college to start a family, he worked at El Paso Electric Company and moved to Nelsonville, Texas where, in 1965, he began working for San Bernard Electric Company in Bellville, Texas as a meter reader. His loyalty in the company was rewarded with being promoted to Blanca, Texas, where he excelled as an athlete, playing six-man football and setting a West Texas Regional record in the 220-yard dash, and as true western cowboy chasing mule deer and riding President and running the company for years. He retired in 2006. He formerly served as president of the Bellville Chamber of Commerce and as president of the Texas Association Rural Electric Cooperatives and served on many boards and commissions.

On September 2nd of 2024, he received his 43year chip for sobriety. He was very involved with his AA family and loved them dearly. John enjoyed hunting, golfing, singing, playing guitar, and recording music. He often played for the congregation of the Glidden Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Robyn Adams, his son, Joe Todd, and wife Tyna Adams of Birmingham, Alabama, daughters, Shannon, and husband Tom Reich of Laguna Vita, Texas, Lori, and husband Rodney Meyer of Columbus, Texas and Jackie Cloat, grandchildren Samantha, and husband Jonathan Delgado, John Baron Adams of Wimberley, Texas, Thomas Riech of Port Isabel, Justin and wife Mia Sprague, Matti, and Hudson Sprague, and Bryson and Parker Meyer of Columbus, Texas, great-grandchildren Salem Darlin and John Alter Delgado of Laguna Vista, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
