ROSALYN GOODMAN EVERSOLE
ROSALYN GOODMAN EVERSOLE
Rosalyn was born on July 4, 1933, to Adolph and Rosie Vacek. She was the oldest of their three children. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1951. In 1952, she married Robert Purcell Goodman. They had 5 children in their time together. It was not until 1965 that Rosalyn went to Blinn College and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). For over 50 years, she dedicated her life to caring for others at numerous nursing homes around the area. In 1968, she married Dalton Eversole. She loved his four adult children as her own.
Life was never boring for Rosalyn. She enjoyed traveling, going to museums, learning about history, playing the piano or her autoharp, and especially playing bingo. Rosalyn had a deep love for reading and spent countless hours immersed in books. She also enjoyed staying informed by watching CSPAN and Fox News, always eager to discuss the latest events with those around her. One of her proudest achievements was receiving her 53rd AA coin this past year, a testament to her resilience and commitment to a goal. If you knew Rosalyn, you knew that she always had a cup of coffee with her. In fact, she jokingly would tell us that when she died, she wanted to be buried in a Folgers coffee can.
Rosalyn was affectionately called “Mamasole” by all of her family and many of her friends. Her legacy is carried on by her children: Virginia Anderson (Steve) of Columbus, Robert “Bob” Goodman (Reba) of Harper, TX, and Vickie Brown (Thomas) of Katy, TX. She was so proud of her 11 grandchildren: Jeremy Anderson, Sarah Nugent, Zachary Anderson, Royce Goodman, Robbin Goodman, Reed Goodman, Thomas Wayne Brown, Eric Brown, Tami Ramirez, Carmen Lugo, and Carlos Llorca. One of her greatest joys was having a visit from one of her 32 great grandchildren or 4 great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Alice Anne Vacek Day of Conroe and her four stepchildren: Dusty Thomas, Larry Eversole, Dean Eversole, and Judy Stevens. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dalton Eversole, her daughter Lynda Goodman, her youngest son William Goodman, and her brother J D Vacek.
While her soul has been remitted to heaven, her memory will remain within us through the stories we tell and the people who loved her.
