LINDA HOLLAND
LINDA HOLLAND
She was the only child born to Elizabeth and Joseph Mares on March 7, 1940. She attended school in the Taylor Independent School District, graduating from Taylor High School in 1958.
She met the love of her life, Alton Holland, in 1958. They were married on April 29, 1959, and were happily married for 65 years. They moved to Columbus, Texas in January of 1970.
Linda had many passions in her life. Not only did she adore her husband, but she was devoted to her daughter, grandson and three great grandchildren. She loved having the family at the house, sitting on the back porch visiting and watching the kids play. She was an incredible cook but always appreciated anyone who prepared a great meal for her. Her other passions were Texas Longhorn Sports (especially Longhorn Football), The Houston Astros, golf, playing bridge and reading.
Linda’s family feels her loss deeply. She was the heart and soul of the family. Her incredible smile, sense of humor and kindness will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her husband, Alton Holland of Columbus; daughter Laura Holland Garner (Ron Garner) of The Woodlands, Texas; grandson Adam Garner (Iris Garner) of Liberty Hill, Texas; great grandchildren Samanatha Garner of Seguin, Texas, Richard “Cuatro” Ribble IV and Declan Garner of Liberty Hill, Texas; sisterin- law Martha Holland of Blanket, Texas.
